Shillong: A wave of grief and outrage over the killing of two children in Manipur echoed beyond the state, as a candlelight vigil was held in Shillong on Sunday to mourn the victims and call for justice.
The vigil, organised by the Shillong Manipuri Students Union, drew participation from members of the Meghalaya Manipur Women's Union, who joined in condemning the attack.
Participants observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the children, reflecting the deep anguish felt across communities.
Union leaders, including General Secretary Lamyanba and Advisor Birohini, demanded strict action against those responsible, asserting that justice must be delivered without delay.
The tragedy that sparked the protest involved a bomb attack on a residential house in Manipur, which claimed the lives of two children-aged five years and six months-while leaving their mother critically injured.
The gathering in Shillong underscored growing concern over the escalating violence, with attendees urging peace and accountability.
Meanwhile, in Imphal, public anger spilled onto the streets as thousands of residents staged a large protest march against the bombing incident in Bishnupur district.
The rally, organised by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup, began at Lamboikhongnangkhong and stretched nearly four kilometres, reflecting widespread outrage over the attack.
