Samaguri MLA Tanzil Hussain has been appointed Vice President of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress following approval from the party's central leadership.

The appointment entrusts Tanzil Hussain with a key organizational role in the state unit. He is expected to contribute to strengthening the organisation across Assam, with a focus on expanding outreach and engagement among young people.

The appointment order issued by the Indian National Congress (INC) read, "With the approval of competent authority, Shri Tanzil Hussain has been appointed as the Vice President, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, and we extend our best wishes to him in this important role. We are confident that his dedication, leadership, and commitment to the ideals of the organisation will further strengthen the Youth Congress in Assam and contribute significantly to its growth and success."

Welcoming the decision, the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress expressed confidence in Hussain's leadership, citing his experience and commitment will to the party's principles.

It may be mentioned that Tanzil Hussain, who is the son of veteran Congress leader Rakibul Hussain, defeated Anil Saikia of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with a margin of 1,08,310 votes and won the Samaguri seat in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.

The seat was vacated by Rakibul Hussain after being elected to the Lok Sabha.
