Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan assured central assistance for proposals aimed at strengthening Mizoram's media, film, and digital infrastructure.
This comes after Murugan met Mizoram's information & public relations minister B Lalchhanzova on Tuesday during his two-day visit to the state.
Lalchhanzova and Information & Communication Technology minister Vanlalthlana, accompanied by senior state govt officials, met the Union Minister at the Lengpui airport near Aizawl.
During the discussions, the Mizoram government sought central assistance for setting up Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) content creator laboratories in 200 schools and 50 colleges across the state.
The initiative is aimed at promoting digital content creation, innovation and entrepreneurship among students while preparing them for opportunities in emerging creative industries.
The Mizoram government also requested support for capacity-building programmes for Mizo filmmakers through training and skill-development initiatives in collaboration with premier institutions such as the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII).

Another key request was the continuation of institutional support to enable Mizo filmmakers' participation in national and international film festivals.
Murugan assured the state government that the Centre would give due consideration to the proposals and take steps towards their early implementation. He also conveyed his interest in participating in a future film festival in Mizoram.
