Digboi: The United Christian Forum (UCF) has appointed Toko Teki, former president and general secretary of the Arunachal Christian Forum, as its spokesperson for Northeast India, with effect from April 16.
The appointment was announced in a press communiqué issued on April 13.
UCF operates a toll-free helpline (1800-208-4545) launched on January 19, 2026, aimed at safeguarding fundamental freedoms and promoting constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
The helpline assists individuals in distress, particularly those unfamiliar with legal procedures, by guiding them to approach relevant public authorities and seek appropriate legal remedies. The organisation has also been involved in documenting alleged cases of discrimination, offering legal guidance, and advocating for constitutional rights while promoting communal harmony.
Teki, a prominent social and community figure from Arunachal Pradesh, has long been associated with student leadership, social work, sports promotion and Christian community initiatives. He previously served as spokesperson of the All Nyishi Students' Union and founded the All Yachuli Students' Union in 1990. He has also served as vice president of the Arunachal Olympic Association and is currently an advisor to the Arunachal Christian Forum.
His appointment has been welcomed by several Christian organisations across districts of Arunachal Pradesh, including Changlang and Namsai, who expressed hope that his leadership will strengthen community engagement and development efforts.
Former MLA of Bordumsa, Somlung Mossang, praised Teki's contribution to social service, calling him a dedicated community leader. "Teki is a distinguished and committed charity leader whom I have known closely. I warmly congratulate him on this significant responsibility, which I believe will greatly advance the cause of community welfare and service to mankind," he said.
Teki was earlier conferred the State Gold Medal by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh in recognition of his contributions to public service. He is also among the longest-serving leaders of a state Christian forum in Arunachal Pradesh, having headed it from 2005 to 2022.
Welcoming the appointment, UCF National President Michael Williams said Teki's experience and commitment would strengthen the organisation's efforts in addressing social inequality and issues related to religious discrimination.
Teki, on accepting the responsibility, said he has taken up the role in a spirit of service and commitment, and not for personal or commercial gain.
