Guwahati: In a head-on collision between an SUV and an auto-rickshaw in Bongaigaon, Assam, one individual was killed while ten others were injured.

The incident took place on Wednesday.

The incident involved a head-on collision between a Fortuner SUV and an auto-rickshaw in the Deuripara area of Bongaigaon, Assam.

The deceased has been identified as Bishnu Chowdhury.

All eleven individuals involved in the accident were reportedly marriage caterers.

They were returning from a marriage on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wedenesday.

According to reports, the Fortuner, bearing registration number AS26E8844, fled the scene after the collision but was later apprehended in South Salmara.

The auto rickshaw's registration number is AS19AC3447 and it was completely damaged in the accident.

The injured individuals have been admitted to the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College (FAAMC) in Barpeta for treatment.

An investigation into the incident is being carried out by the police.
