Tinsukia: With the single-phase Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, the Tinsukia District has completed key logistical and security arrangements, officials said on Wednesday.

A total of 5,124 presiding and polling officers have been deployed to oversee voting across 1,281 polling stations in the district's six Assembly constituencies-Sadiya, Doomdooma, Margherita, Digboi, Makum and Tinsukia, which together have 10,08,706 registered voters.

To ensure security, around 3,000 police and security personnel have been assigned for poll duty. Authorities have also identified 165 polling stations as sensitive and placed them under heightened security to prevent any untoward incidents.

Officials said one model polling station has been set up in each constituency to showcase improved voter facilities and accessibility.

All essential infrastructure, including strong rooms and electronic voting machine (EVM) facilities, has been put in place, the administration said, adding that preparations are aimed at ensuring free, fair and peaceful polling in the district.
