Assam: I stand with anti-CAA forces, says Prafulla Kumar Mahanta upon arrival in Guwahati

"I stand with the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) forces."

This was stated by former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

Prafulla Kumar Mahanta arrived at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on Friday evening.

Saying that he stands alongside the anti-CAA forces, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta hinted at the revival of the Asom Gana Parishad-Progressive (AGP-P).

On being asked by the reporters on denial of ticket by the AGP to contest the upcoming elections, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta reverted back by asking: "Which party denied ticket?"

This question by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has further gave air the reports of revival of AGP-Progressive party and the two-time CM joining the Grand Alliance.

The AGP-P was floated by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta in 2005 after his expulsion from the AGP by the party's leadership.

Later in 2008, the AGP-P merged with the AGP.

Slamming the AGP, ex-Rajya Sabha MP and wife of Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Jayshree Mahanta said: "This is really unfortunate. For the first time in history, a regional party has bent the knee in New Delhi. AGP has lost its regionalism."
