Applications are invited for recruitment of 105 vacant positions or career in BARC in 2026.

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment of 105 vacant positions or career of Junior Research Fellowships in 2026 in the areas of Physical, Chemical and Life Sciences.

All the selected candidates will register for Ph.D. in Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed to be University of Department of Atomic Energy

Eligibility Criteria :

A. ONLY those candidates who have successfully cleared and have valid certificate
for at least one of the following national level examination will be shortlisted for
interview at BARC, Mumbai. Applications will be scrutinized and suitability of
candidates for interview will be decided on the basis of their performance in the national
level examination. The recommendation / decision of the Selection Committee will be
final and binding-

a. UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship (SLET/ Lectureship not eligible)

b. JEST Score

c. ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR-JRF Test

d. DBT-JRB Biotechnology eligibility Test

e. GATE Score in Physics/ Chemistry /Life Sciences/ Biotechnology

f. JGEEBILS

Candidates should clearly indicate the details of the above national level examinations
and it should be valid as on 01-07-2026. The candidate should submit the proof at the time of
interview.

B. i. Candidates should have secured minimum of 60% aggregate in B.Sc. and 55% aggregate in M.Sc. from a recognized University.

ii. Candidates with five years integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree) should have secured an aggregate of minimum 55%.

iii. Candidates having a 4-year / 8-semester bachelor's degree (B.S with fourth year Research) with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate are also eligible to apply.

iv. Candidates who have completed but awaiting the final results of M.Sc. Degree may also apply. However, such candidates should necessarily upload copies of the mark sheets of B.Sc. Degree and a copy of M.Sc. first year mark sheet(s) along with the application. Such candidates should have scored marks at least 55% aggregate until the previous semester/year in M. Sc. and minimum aggregate of 60% in B.Sc. level. Such candidates eventually joining the Fellowship should acquire aggregate marks of 55% in the M. Sc. qualifying degree, failing which candidate will not be allowed to continue in the programme.

v. Candidates who have completed but awaiting the final results of five years integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree) may also apply. Candidates should have secured minimum of 55% aggregate upto 8th semester. Such candidates eventually joining the Fellowship should acquire aggregate marks of 55% in the five years integrated M.Sc. / B.S-M.S. (Dual degree) qualifying degree, failing which candidate will not be allowed to continue in the programme.

vi. Candidates who have completed but awaiting the final results of 4-year /8-semester bachelor's degree (B.S with fourth year Research) may also apply. Candidates should have secured minimum of 75% aggregate upto 6th semester/3rd year. Such candidates eventually joining the Fellowship should acquire aggregate marks of 75% in the 4-year / 8-semester bachelor's degree (B.S with fourth year Research) qualifying degree, failing which candidate will not be allowed to continue in the programme.

Fellowship :

The selected candidates will be initially considered as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and will
be paid a stipend of Rs. 37,000/- per month for a period of two years. Continuation of the
fellowship is subject to satisfactory performance and review at the end of each year. On satisfactory performance, the tenure of the Fellowship will be further extended and upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from the third year onwards with a stipend of Rs. 42,000/- per month (consolidated). The total duration of this fellowship is five years. They are entitled for contingency grant including book allowance of Rs. 60,000/- per year. Financial Assistance to attend one International Conference abroad during the PhD Programme may be provided subject to conditions as updated by HBNI.

Age Limit :

The candidate should be less than 28 years of age as on 01-08-2026. Age relaxation is
applicable up to 3 years in case of Other Backward Class Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)
applicants, 5 years in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe applicants and additional
10 years in case of persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) applicants

Application Fees :

Application fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) is payable at the time of submission
of online application. Mode of payment of the Application Fee is only through Online
