Cockroach Janta Party founder alleges Instagram account hacking

Guwahati: Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-focused online political satire group that has recently gained strong traction on social media, has alleged that his digital accounts were targeted.

Dipke reported losing access to his personal Instagram account following a hack. He also noted that the party's backup handle was temporarily unavailable amid a period of rapid growth, returning to normal operation after a few hours.

He also shared screenshots showing several unsuccessful attempts to restore access through Meta's recovery system. Each time he selected the "recover it now" option, the platform responded with the message: "We locked your Instagram account for your safety. To recover your account, you'll need to verify your identity and create a new password".

Despite repeating the recovery steps multiple times, Dipke said the same response kept appearing, preventing him from regaining access.

On X, he posted, "CJP's backup Instagram account also taken down," along with an earlier message stating that his Instagram profile had been compromised.

In another post, he expressed strong concern over what he described as coordinated action against CJP-linked platforms. He wrote, "Crackdown on Cockroach Janta Party. Instagram page hacked. My personal Instagram hacked. Twitter account withheld. Back up account also taken down".

He further clarified on X, "Please note that we currently do not have access to any of our platforms. Any post made after this should not be considered an official statement from the Cockroach Janta Party".

This development comes shortly after the group faced another setback earlier this week, when its X account was withheld in India.

Following that, the organisation returned with a new account called "Cockroach Is Back," where it pushed back against critics and suggested attempts were being made to limit its increasing influence.
