Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday released a policy document titled "Agricultural Extension Innovations for Achieving a US $1.3 Trillion North East India Economy @ 2047 (Shillong Declaration)," outlining a future-ready roadmap for agricultural transformation in the region.
The document was released at an event held in Imphal, an official statement said.
Noting that more than 50% of the population is engaged in agriculture, he emphasised that greater focus must be given to strengthening the sector.
He also highlighted the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, stating that such platforms provide an opportunity to harness the potential of young minds and connect them with real-world challenges.
The Chief Minister further stated that, in consultation with the Planning Department, the government will explore ways to maximise benefits from agriculture for the youth, especially in the context of the state's startup ecosystem.
He added that agriculture remains a key concern for both the state and the country, requiring sustained attention and policy support.
The region, he said, holds immense potential to emerge as a hub for high-value and sustainable agriculture, supported by innovation, research, and youth-driven entrepreneurship.
