NORTHEAST NOW 3 weeks ago

Guwahati: The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) results for 2026 were announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) on May 4. Following exams that took place between February 18 and March 13, thousands of students throughout the state learned their fate.

All streams had good pass rates: Arts had 88.63%, Commerce had 87.49%, Science had 83.70%, and Vocational had the highest at 95.23%.

Conrad K. Sangma, the chief minister, congratulated the students via social media writing: "Your hard work, discipline, and determination have brought you to this important milestone. This achievement reflects not only your efforts, but also the unwavering support of your parents, teachers, and institutions."

The Science stream was the most competitive, with Dechro M. Marak of Don Bosco College (Hr. Sec. Section), Tura, taking first place with an outstanding score of 472, the highest of all three streams this year. For a student from outside Shillong, which typically dominates the merit lists, this is a noteworthy victory.

With 470 points, Amos Chinminlun of St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School in Shillong placed second and Vishal Rai of Laban Bengalee Boys' Hr. Sec. School in Shillong placed third with 464 points. With 461 points,Dauniwan Sajem of St. Anthony's placed fourth. With 449 points apiece, Lydia Mary Jala, Eshratara Begum, and Aime Azora G. Momin shared the tenth spot.

Meghashree Roy of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, Shillong, placed first in the Arts stream with 457 points. With 452 points, Joziah Daman Laloo of St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School in Shillong came in second, and Nakisakahuni M. Pakyntein of the same institution came in third with 446 points.

Two students, K Gwyneth Wanrilang Rymbai of St. Edmund's Higher Secondary School and Mewarica Pariat of North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Mookyrdoop-Jowai, shared the tenth spot in Arts with scores of 431. Notably, Pariat's presence breaks the Shillong stronghold on the top 10 by representing a school in Jowai.

Priya Ghosh of St. Edmund's Higher Secondary School in Shillong won first place in the Commerce stream with 458 points. St. Anthony's students Ankita Das and Rishika Debnath came in second and third, respectively, with scores of 453 and 452.

In Commerce, St. Anthony's students performed exceptionally well, placing several of them in the top 10. However, three students-Vivian Wanshai Laloo, Trisha Bhattacharjee, and Bachina Lyngdoh, who represented St. Mary's Higher Secondary School-shared the seventh spot with 441 points.

St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School in Shilllong emerged as the top-performing institution across all academic streams, which held several spots on the merit rankings for the arts, sciences, and commerce. St. Mary's and St. Edmund's were also significant. Notable out-of-town schools that made the cut were North Liberty Higher Secondary School in Mookyrdoop-Jowai and Don Bosco College in Tura.

Within two weeks of the results being announced, students who are unhappy with their grades may request a re evaluation; the procedure is anticipated to be completed by the fourth week of June. Roll numbers can be used to access results on megresults.nic.in and mbose.in.
