More than Rs 68 lakh fined for not wearing masks in Tripura

Tripura government has collected more than Rs 68 lakh rupees of fine amount from those who were not wearing masks.

This amount was collected during the period between May 26 and July 12.

During the coronavirus pandemic situation, the state administration collected more than Rs one crore 13 lakh fine amount from the car owners, drivers for not maintain norms.

Law minister Ratan Lal Nath today informed this in a press conference on Monday.

Nath further said there is no irregularity in purchasing COVID-19 safety kits in the State.

In April, there were allegations of irregularities in the purchase of sanitizers, PPE kits and testing kits in the State.

BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

The State Government formed an inquiry committee on April 24 and asked it to submit a report within seven days.

Aditi Majumder, the NHM's mission director, was removed from her post.

After the incident, the then health secretary Debashis Basu went on leave.

On May 27, investigating officers Kiran Gitye and Tanushree Devvarma submitted their reports to the chief secretary.

About a month and a half after the report was submitted, the government opened its mouth about it.

The minister said there was no corruption.

What has happened is that there were some procedural defects in the purchase of materials.

Government money was not spent extra.

This has happened due to misunderstanding between the two officers, Nath said.

There are at present 576 active patients in Tripura.

A total of 1475 people have recovered till date in the State.

Meanwhile, antigen detection test has been started.

In the last four days, 1614 people have been tested in this manner.

Among them, 21 were found positive.

The state still now 2068 people infected with coronavirus.

The number of containment zones in the State has been increased to 54.
