Bhubaneswar: Odisha has moved to end the long wait for house construction plan approvals, introducing a strict seven-day deadline for applications filed through the SUJOG app.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced the reform after a departmental review, promising swift disposal of files and accountability for delays.
Under the new rule, any file pending beyond seven days will automatically be transferred to another official for processing. Officers who fail to act within the stipulated period will face a fine of Rs 250 per day. "The stipulated time is seven days. After this duration, the file will be forwarded to another official. Officers who fail to adhere will be penalized," Mahapatra said.
The move aims to streamline approvals, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and provide relief to applicants who often face months of uncertainty. By enforcing timelines and penalties, the government hopes to bring transparency and efficiency to urban housing administration across the state.
