Odisha Bhaskar 1 week ago

Balasore: What began as a phone call turned into a police case in the Balasore district, where a young man has been booked for allegedly making obscene remarks and expressing unsolicited romantic advances to a married woman.

The accused, identified as Janmejaya Sahu alias Banga, son of Laxmikanta Sahu of Purushottampur village under Kakhada Panchayat in Bhograi block, was detained after the woman lodged a written complaint.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 4 pm on June 30 when Sahu allegedly called the woman, a resident of Hatsarisha, claiming to be from the Chandaneswar Police Outpost. He reportedly asked her to come to Digha, saying a vehicle would be sent to pick her up. During the call, he allegedly used obscene language and made inappropriate remarks.

The woman later informed her husband, who verified the phone number and identified the caller as Sahu. Following this, she approached Bhograi Police, who registered a case (No. 205/26).

Personnel of Chandaneswar Police Outpost confirmed that the accused has been detained for questioning. Further investigation is underway, and legal action will follow based on the probe's findings.
