Gwalior: What should have been a night of music, laughter, and wedding sweets in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior ended in chaos when a group of villagers decided that it was the duty of the groom's family to provide them money for liquor.
The incident unfolded on March 30, just after Mahesh Jatav's bride arrived at her new home. As the family sat down to eat, villagers barged in demanding cash for liquor.
When the request was refused, tempers flared. Abuses quickly turned into blows, and the groom, bride as well as the bride's mother were among those injured in the scuffle. Several other relatives and family members also sustained wounds.
The mob allegedly looted cash and valuables before fleeing. Guests tried to intervene, but tensions escalated further, forcing police involvement. Complaints have now been filed by both sides, and cops say they are investigating the matter.
The injured were treated at a nearby hospital, while the community waits for the law to untangle what began as a wedding feast and ended as a fight over booze.
