Donation Misuse Allegations at Badrinath Temple, Probe Ordered

Donation Misuse Allegations at Badrinath Temple, Probe Ordered

Odisha Bhaskar 1 week ago

Dehradun: In the wake of swirling allegations of embezzlement at Ayodhya's Ram Temple, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has ordered an inquiry into similar charges concerning offerings at Badrinath Dham.

BKTC President Hemant Dwivedi announced on Friday that the committee has taken the social media allegations seriously and directed the formation of an internal inquiry panel. "Explanations have been sought from the employees concerned, and strict action will follow if anyone is found guilty," Dwivedi said.

The controversy erupted after an organization named Bhairav Sena accused the temple administration of financial irregularities, even linking the alleged misappropriation to the personal assistant of the BKTC Chairman. Dwivedi refuted the claim, clarifying that the employee in question is a regular government staffer who has served under multiple chairmen, not his personal secretary.

BKTC CEO Sohan Singh Rangad confirmed that CCTV footage from the temple premises was reviewed but lacked clarity. He added that a detailed probe will be conducted once the inquiry committee is formed, with findings to be submitted formally.
