Balangir: A disturbing case of crime against a minor has rocked Balangir district, where police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a young girl in the Muralibahal police station in the Kantabanji area.
The accused, identified as Srikant Banachora, a father of two, was taken into custody after the girl was rescued. According to reports, the child had gone missing on April 23 while collecting tendu leaves in a nearby forest. When she failed to return home, her family searched the area and later lodged a missing complaint on April 24.
Acting swiftly, police launched an investigation and traced the girl, who had reportedly been kidnapped and assaulted by Banachora. He was arrested and charged with kidnapping and rape.
