New Delhi: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has cracked open a major interstate smuggling racket, arresting two traffickers from Kashmir in connection with a cannabis supply chain stretching from Odisha to northern India.
After a five-day operation, a nine-member NCB team nabbed Vikram Singh and his associate Dharminder Singh in Kashmir. The duo was brought to Bhubaneswar on Saturday for further interrogation.
Investigators revealed that cannabis sourced from Kandhamal district was packed in steel containers and concealed inside trucks carrying apples from Kashmir. The contraband was then routed to markets across northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir.
The arrests follow a breakthrough earlier this month when a vehicle loaded with cannabis was seized in Sambalpur, exposing the network's scale. Officials said further probes are underway to identify additional links in the smuggling chain.
