Odisha Bar Council Moves to Complete Pending Polls on May 23

Odisha Bar Council Moves to Complete Pending Polls on May 23

Odisha Bhaskar 1 month ago

Cuttack: The Odisha State Bar Council has fixed May 23, 2026, as the date for elections to three Bar Associations whose polls were earlier postponed.

Council President Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi announced that voting will be held on that day for the Nabarangapur Bar Association, Jatni Lawyers Association, and Sundargarh District Bar Association. The decision has already been communicated to the respective Presidents and Secretaries, who have been directed to convene general body meetings, appoint Election Officers, and submit required details to the Council by April 27.

Elections for all affiliated Bar Associations across Odisha were conducted on March 28. However, polls in these three associations were withheld due to procedural irregularities. The fresh schedule now clears the way for completing the electoral process, ensuring representation across all Bar bodies in the state.
