The decisions, taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, include a major lift irrigation project on the Daya River and the launch of the Mukhyamantri Janajati Jeevika Mission 2.0.

The Cabinet approved projects worth Rs 673.33 crore for the Water Resources Department, covering four irrigation and underground pipeline distribution projects. The schemes will irrigate nearly 23,000 hectares of farmland across five districts by lifting water from the Mahanadi and Daya rivers in Puri district through a pressurised pipeline network.

It also approved an outlay of Rs 2,995 crore for the Mukhyamantri Janajati Jeevika Mission 2.0, which will be implemented across 134 blocks in 19 districts to boost tribal livelihoods.

The government further extended its scheme promoting agricultural machinery, equipment and diesel pump sets for another five years.

“This is good news for the farmers. The scheme for popularisation of agricultural implements, equipment and diesel pump sets has been extended by another five years. The aim is to increase production and productivity while bringing modernisation to agriculture,” Chief Secretary Anu Garg said.

She added that women, SC, ST, small and marginal farmers will receive a 50 per cent subsidy on farm equipment, while other male farmers will be eligible for a 40 per cent subsidy.

The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Odisha GST Act, 2017 and gave formal approval to the Odisha State Legal Services Cadre Rules, 2026.
