Odisha's First Skywalk to Rise in Bhubaneswar

Odisha's First Skywalk to Rise in Bhubaneswar

Odisha Bhaskar 6 days ago

Bhubaneswar: In a bold push to decongest one of the city's busiest corridors, the Odisha government has unveiled two landmark infrastructure projects, a six-lane Palasuni bridge and the state's first skywalk, both aimed at transforming the stretch between Rasulgarh and Palasuni Chhak.

The corridor, notorious for traffic snarls and frequent accidents, has long been a headache for commuters. While laying foundation stone for the projects, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said an earlier 3 crore foot-over bridge failed to ease congestion, prompting the launch of larger projects.

"The government approved Rs 23 crore for widening the Palasuni bridge and constructing service roads. Work is underway, and the bridge will be ready by March 2027. Additionally, a 450-metre skywalk between Palasuni and Rasulgarh will provide great convenience and prevent congestion," she noted.

Officials explained that the skywalk will be a game-changer for pedestrian safety, offering a seamless elevated passage across the high-density zone. The six-lane bridge, meanwhile, is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce accident risks.

Together, the projects mark a major step toward modernising Bhubaneswar's road infrastructure, blending safety with efficiency. For residents and commuters, the promise is clear: smoother rides, safer crossings, and a city better equipped to handle its growing urban demands.
