Pune Lohagad Fort Murder: Police Seek Lie Detector Test for Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary

Pune Lohagad Fort Murder: Police Seek Lie Detector Test for Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary

Odisha Bhaskar 1 week ago

Pune Police have initiated the legal process to conduct polygraph (lie detector) tests on the two main accused in the murder of 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal, as investigators intensify their probe into the high-profile case.

The Pune Police have formally sought permission to subject Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary, 22, to polygraph tests.

The public prosecutor has verified that the legal procedure is underway. Cops plan to compare and analyse the statements of both accused based on the test findings, which they believe could provide crucial leads in the murder investigation.

Agarwal was allegedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune by Goyal and Chaudhary. The accused remain in police custody until July 3.

Police are also examining Agarwal’s mobile phone after discovering it remained with Siya for some time following his death. According to investigators, she later returned the device to the victim’s family.

“We are investigating whether any crucial evidence was deleted or tampered with while the phone was in her possession,” a police official told PTI, adding that there is no confirmation yet of any data manipulation.

On Tuesday, Pune Rural Police recreated the crime scene with Chaudhary at Lohagad Fort as part of the investigation. A similar reconstruction had earlier been carried out with Siya, during which cops used a dummy to recreate the alleged sequence of the murder.
