Puri: The sacred treasures of Puri's Jagannath Temple are set to undergo the next stage of scrutiny as the second phase of the Ratna Bhandar inventory begins on April 8, 2026.
Chief Administrator Dr Arvind Padhi confirmed that the process will run daily, except on Sundays and ritual-marked days, ensuring no disruption to devotees' darshan or temple rites.
A 20-member team will audit ornaments in both the inner and outer chambers of the Ratna Bhandar, using 3D mapping and digital photography for precise documentation. Gold items will be catalogued on yellow cloth, while silver will be placed on white, maintaining traditional practices.
The exercise is overseen by a special committee of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). The inventory, which began on March 25 after a gap of 48 years, marks a historic moment in safeguarding the temple's priceless heritage.
