Subarnapur: In a crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Sonepur police seized over 1.5 quintals of ganja and arrested five people, including two women, during separate raids on Thursday.
The operations were carried out at Baghlapur under Biramaharajpur police station.
At Baghlapur, cops intercepted an Alto car and discovered 30 packets of ganja hidden inside a suitcase. The driver and two women occupants were taken into custody.
In a parallel raid at Budharaja Chowk, police stopped a Tata Ace vehicle fitted with a concealed compartment beneath its deck. A search revealed 130 packets of ganja, leading to the arrest of two more suspects.
The raids resulted in the seizure of two vehicles and the arrest of all five accused. Police said investigations are underway to trace the smuggling network and identify the origin and destination of the consignment.
