Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh paused his live performance in Canada's Calgary to call out pro-Khalistani elements after they attempted to disrupt the concert by waving flags associated with banned groups.
Videos from the event showed Dosanjh performing before a packed audience, walking across the stage in traditional attire under vibrant lighting, when a section of the crowd began displaying Khalistani flags. The singer briefly stopped mid-performance and addressed them directly, asking them to "stop the nuisance and take it somewhere else," before continuing with the show.
This is not the first time Dosanjh's concerts have witnessed such disruptions, with similar incidents reported at his previous international performances.
The episode comes a day after the Canadian Security Intelligence Service flagged concerns over Khalistani extremism in its 2025 report tabled in Parliament. The agency noted that Canada-based Khalistani extremist networks remain active, promoting a "violent extremist agenda" and raising funds through local channels.
The report stated that such groups often exploit Canadian institutions and community networks, diverting funds towards extremist activities. The issue has been a persistent point of tension in India-Canada relations, with India repeatedly raising concerns over Canada's handling of pro-Khalistani elements.
