Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday released the fourth instalment of assistance under the Subhadra Yojana, transferring over Rs 5,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 1.02 crore women beneficiaries across the state.
The funds were credited through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system on the occasion of International Women's Day, as part of the state's flagship initiative aimed at improving women's financial security and economic independence.
Officials said the financial support is expected to strengthen household incomes while advancing the government's broader goal of women's empowerment in Odisha.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that 2,13,198 new beneficiaries have been added to the scheme in the latest phase. Among them, 36,385 women were included following the resolution of grievances raised during the verification process.
The list of new beneficiaries also features women who recently turned 21 and have now become eligible for assistance under the programme. These first-time recipients are categorised as "Yuva Subhadra".
Parida further said the beneficiary database will remain dynamic and will be updated regularly. Women will be added to the scheme upon attaining the age of 21, while those crossing 60 will be moved from the Subhadra Yojana to pension schemes under other state social welfare programmes.
Officials said this mechanism will help ensure that the benefits continue to reach eligible women across the state.
