The deceased was identified as Chandrika Hembram, whose belongings-including a bag, slippers, a mobile phone, and a doctor's prescription were discovered on the bridge by morning walkers.

Alerted by locals, Baranga Police and Fire Services personnel launched a search operation. Chandrika's body was later recovered from the river and sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police said preliminary evidence suggests she may have leapt into the river, but they are not ruling out foul play."All angles are being examined, and the exact cause will be established after the post-mortem," officials stated.
