Chennai: A wave of shock swept through Chennai's entertainment circles when TV actress Subhashini, popularly known as Sasvibala, reportedly ended her life in her Iyyappanthangal apartment while on a video call with her husband on Sunday night.
The 36-year-old star's sudden death has left fans and colleagues stunned.
Police said Subhashini was speaking to her husband, Bipin Chandran, when a domestic dispute escalated. In a tragic turn, she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan as he watched helplessly on the call.
Bipin immediately alerted the apartment security, who contacted Porur police. Cops rushed to the scene, recovered her body, and moved it to Poonamallee Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Subhashini, admired for her roles in Tamil serials, had married Bipin in April 2024 and often travelled between Bengaluru and Chennai for work. She had rented the Iyyappanthangal flat to stay close to shooting locations.
With the marriage less than two years old, police have ordered a Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) inquiry alongside the police investigation.
