OREM, UT - Turning Point USA (TPUSA) officials and staff have launched a fierce defense of Erika Kirk, the organization's new CEO and widow of Charlie Kirk , following viral allegations that she went on a 'shopping spree' less than 24 hours after her husband's assassination.
The controversy began when an account titled “Project Constitution” claimed to have “digital receipts” showing a purchase at Alo Yoga on September 11, 2025-the day after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University. The post suggested Erika was “ready for a wardrobe refresh” rather than mourning, citing a purchase made under her maiden name, Erika Fransve.
1. The Defense: “No Time to Pack”
TPUSA staff member Elizabeth McCoy came forward on Friday to debunk the narrative, stating she was the one who physically made the purchase.
- The Logistics: McCoy explained that the team rushed from their offices to an airplane the moment they heard Charlie had been shot. “We arrived in Utah with nothing but the clothes we were wearing,” she wrote.
- The Purchase: After staying in the same clothes through a night at the hospital, McCoy says a friend provided a credit card so she could buy basic necessities, toiletries, and comfortable clothing (athleisure) for Erika and other team members at a nearby Alo Yoga.
- The Maiden Name: Staffers clarified that corporate or shared accounts often remain under previous names, and the use of the maiden name was a technicality of the existing account, not an attempt at “secrecy.”

The fallout has turned into a corporate battle, with TPUSA influencers calling for a boycott of the Los Angeles-based brand.
- Privacy Breach: TPUSA's Alex Clark slammed the company, alleging an employee leaked private customer data to “smear” a widow. “Alo REFUSES to apologize… you are a despicable company,” Clark posted.
