Flight operations at Dubai International Airport resumed on Saturday afternoon, 7th March, after a temporary suspension earlier in the day following a drone incident near the airport.
Airlines confirmed that services have restarted, and passengers can now check flight schedules and make bookings again.
The disruption began after a drone launched from Tehran was intercepted close to the airport. The situation raised security concerns, and authorities briefly halted flight movements at the airport, which is known as the world's busiest hub for international passengers.
Videos shared on social media showed smoke rising from the airport area after the aerial object appeared to hit the runway. A witness told AFP that a loud explosion was heard in the sky above the airport moments before a cloud of smoke was seen. Following the incident, airport authorities stopped flight operations for a short time to make sure passenger safety was not at risk.
As the situation came under control, Emirates Airlines announced that it had restarted its flight operations at Dubai International Airport after the suspension earlier on 7th March, 2026. In a post on X, the airline said passengers with confirmed bookings for afternoon departures could proceed to the airport. The update also applies to travellers connecting through Dubai if their onward flights are operating.
Emirates advised passengers to check the latest flight schedules and book available seats through its website before heading to the airport. The airline also said it is closely watching the situation and will adjust its flight operations if needed.
“We have partially resumed operations from today, 7 March, with some flights operating out of DXB and DWC. Please do not travel to the airport unless you have been contacted by your airline that your flight is confirmed, as schedules continue to change”, Dubai International Airport (DXB)’s official handle
