Pakistan writes to X to block OpIndia video made in June 2025 that exposed how Pakistan is playing double game with Iran and US

OpIndia 3 weeks ago

On 16th April, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpIndia, Rahul Roushan, received an email from social media platform X informing him about a request received from Pakistan's Telecommunication Authority against two of his posts.

X has not taken any action on any of the posts.

One of the posts on X that Pakistan wants to get removed was from June 2025, where he shared a video published by OpIndia which claimed that Iran had illegally acquired nuclear formula from Pakistan and that Pakistan was ready to assist the United States in bombing Iran for illegally acquiring nuclear formula.

OpIndia's video explains how Pakistan loves playing a dual game

The video that Pakistan is concerned about traces the origin of Pakistan's nuclear proliferation network. The video describes how in 1986, AQ Khan visited Iran and a nuclear cooperation agreement was signed between the two countries. It also highlighted reports from American newspapers which accused Pakistan of developing weapons grade uranium and transferring a portion to Iran.

The video further points to statements made by then President Zia ul Haq, who defended Pakistan's right to acquire nuclear technology and suggested that it should "benefit the Islamic world". It also refers to how Pakistan, in the 1980s and 1990s, promoted its nuclear capabilities through Khan Research Laboratories.

The video then describes how over 2,000 centrifuges were illegally sold and that a global network involving multiple countries and organisations facilitated the spread of nuclear technology for financial gains. It also notes that investigations by US and UK intelligence agencies led to AQ Khan being held responsible and arrested in 2004.

Furthermore, the video raises questions over the delayed global response, particularly from the US, and discusses how geopolitical considerations, especially during the Cold War period, may have influenced the lack of strict action against Pakistan.

The post comparing US bombing school and Pakistan bombing hospital

The second post, which Pakistan “did not like” and wanted to be removed from social media, was where Rahul Roushan drew a parallel between the US bombing a school in Iran and Pakistan bombing a hospital in Afghanistan. He had written, “Master has trained the slave well”.

The requests for removal of these posts came at a time when Pakistan is trying to play “mediator” between the US and Iran amid the West Asia conflict. Notably, Pakistan had recently shared different versions of a ceasefire agreement with Iran and the US, which was later reported by sections of the media and the ceasefire talks between the US and Iran failed. Before this came to light, Pakistan had claimed the status of a “peacemaker” for “successfully” orchestrating “peace” between the US and Iran. However, within hours, Pakistan was exposed by media.
