Chennai, 29 August: The final Valedictory session of the 5 day Smart India Hackathon 2022 Concluded on 29th August with the messes of Emphasized on Entrepreneurship and Startup. The session was conducted by the Nodal Centre- B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST) in association with Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC). BSACIST was selected as one of the Nodal Centre’s among 18 institutions to host the hardware edition of SIH 22’ conducted by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC). BSACIST recorded 130+ participants for SIH 22’.
BSACIST is one among the 4 institutions in Tamilnadu to be selected as a Nodal Centre for SIH 22’.
The honoree for the Valedictory session was Mr. Suresh Sambandam, CEO of Kissflow Inc. and Convener at Dream Tamilnadu. He talked about the fundamental aspects of starting a startup and inspired the students to pursue entrepreneurship. The Guest of Honour Mr. Elangovan – Assistant Innovation Director of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, who was the Nodal Centre Head of BSACIST congratulated BSACIST & CIIC for their efforts in the coherent organization of SIH 22’.
SIH 22’ presented 248 problem statements in total out of which 5 problem statements (PS) were allocated to BSACIST. The 5 PS’s were given out by two organizations- GE Healthcare and DST (Department of Science and Technology), GoI. MIC presented a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh to each winner of the problem statement addressed. The winners of the 5 problems statement from BSACIST were-
- Team Neomatrixx- from Velammal Engineering College, Madurai
- Team Hydrograviticity- from GITAM (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management), Andhra Pradesh.
- Team Netra 2k22- from K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Maharashtra.
- Team Phoenics- from Pragati Engineering College, Andhra Pradesh.
- Team Carelifters and Team Tenacious- from Bajaj Institute of Technology (BIT),

The Vice Chancellor- Dr. A Peer Mohamed, Registrar- Dr. N Raja Hussain and Mr. M Parvez Alam, CEO of CIIC congratulated all the 6 winners of the SIH 22’ held at Nodal Centre – BSACIST. Mr. M Parvez Alam thanked MIC for giving BSACIST the opportunity to host SIH 22’ and laid emphasis on
how rewarding the experience was.
Earlier B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST) with the joint efforts of Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council(CIIC) inaugurated the Smart India Hackathon 2022 on 25th August 2022. BSACIST was selected as one of the Nodal Centre’s among 18 institutions to host SIH 22’ Hardware edition organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.
BSACIST welcomed all the 20 teams comprising of 130+ participants. The institute’s inaugural ceremony was presided by Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President of Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. K. Elangovan, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) , GoI and the top management of BSACIST. The Central Inauguration was telecasted online from the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. The inauguration was followed with a rally across the venue with all the 20 team leaders bearing the SIH 22’ torch.
The Chancellor of BSACIST, Mr. BSA Arif Buhary Rahman, the Vice Chancellor- Dr. A Peer Mohamed, the Registrar- Dr. N Raja Hussain graced the inauguration with their presence. Mr. M Parvez Alam- CEO & Director, CIIC welcomed the guests, evaluators, mentors and all the student participants to BSACIST and hoped that there will emerge soon-to-be startups. Dr. Shankar Venugopal highlighted that the SIH 22’ is a great initiative by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Government of India in collecting Problem Statements from different industries and providing young minds a chance to provide creative solutions for the same.
