For adults, a fall from the bed may seem harmless, even funny, but for children, it can prove to be life-threatening. In just one week, two separate incidents from Indore have highlighted the serious dangers of such falls, especially for infants.
The first incident has been reported from the Rajwada Market area of Indore, where a 5-month-old baby girl, Ayat Sheikh, was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition after falling from a bed.
Ayat was the youngest of the three siblings. She was playing on the bed while her mother was in the kitchen. It has been alleged that the baby rolled over and lost balance, which led to the fall. The baby girl sustained a severe head injury. Ayat underwent treatment for five days but unfortunately could not be saved.
In a similar incident reported from another part of the city, a 4-month-old baby boy, Riyansh, from Bhil Colony in the Azad Nagar area of Indore, died after falling from a bed while playing with his elder siblings.
There were no adults around. His mother and grandmother were reportedly busy with household chores, and his father was at work when it happened. The baby was immediately rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
Both incidents highlight how important it is to never leave children unattended, especially once they start rolling.
