A shocking incident has been reported from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a father reportedly slit the throats of his twin daughters and ended their lives.
What his wife revealed next has left the entire neighbourhood in a state of shock.
The girls’ mother, Reshma Chhetri, has allegedly revealed that the accused, Prateek Mishra, was an alcoholic. They had a love marriage in 2014, but soon after, the relationship turned toxic when Prateek started beating her. She was even deprived of food. Their house had CCTV cameras installed everywhere, even inside the bedroom. He used to track her movements throughout the day.
Reshma has also revealed that Prateek often asked her to go to her parents' house with their son. He, however, never allowed their twin daughters to accompany her.
It does not stop here. Then came the most shocking revelation. Reshma told the police that her husband often used to say that he wanted to kill himself and the twin girls.
Reshma had been living with her parents for the past 9 months with her son, as Prateek had forced her out of the house but refused to let her take the twin girls along.
Unable to live without her daughters, Reshma finally came back home, but wasn’t allowed to enter her husband's room.
On the night of the incident, Reshma shared that everything was normal and the whole family had dinner together. Prateek then took the girls to his room to sleep. She also mentioned that she saw her husband talking on the phone for a very long time on the CCTV feed.
It can be seen that around 2:30 a.m., Prateek took one of the girls to the bathroom, and they returned after some time. Following this, there was no sound from the room. Reshma naturally assumed that everyone had gone to sleep.
She didn’t even realise when the girls were killed.
Prateek called the police himself and confessed to his crime. Both girls were found inside the house with deep cuts on their necks.
Investigations are going on, and the motive for the murders is still not known.
