Balipatna Police forwards 7-yr girl child to court instead of Juvenile Justice Board

Balipatana, Jan 20: Balipatana Police has forwarded a seven year old girl child to the court instead referring her to the Juvenile Justice Board.

This breach of juvenile justice has put the police in tizzy

Basing upon a family dispute Balipatana outpost police had registered a case against Dharmananda Jena and 3 others. These accuseds include Dharmananda's seven-year-old daughter.

The girl child was charged with sections 127 and 107 under the Indian Penal Code. Accordingly, police had served summon on her.

Reviewing the case, the DCP found the error and recommended departmental action against the errant Outpost police officer.

On the other hand, police said it was an unintended computer error. The girl's age was rewritten as 19 instead of seven by mistake, said Balipatna police station IIC.
