Nayagarh Pari murder case transferred to Children's Court
Nayagarh, Jan 20: The Nayagarh minor girl murder case has been transferred from the Juvenile Justice Board to Children's Court as the age of the accused is between 16 and 18 years.
According to reports, the case was transferred to the Children's Court after a preliminary assessment by the prosecutor, with the help of a psychologist.
The police have produced the accused in a Children's court as per the board's decision.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court, which was hearing the case, had termed the prime accused a minor.
The accused's counsel submitted his birth certificate and his matriculation certificate before the court. Basing on the evidences, the court pronounced its judgement.
The accused had allegedly sexually assaulted the girl, strangled her to death and tried to have sexual intercourse with the body. He later packed the body in a gunny bag and dumped it at a bush near a pond at the backyard of the girl's house on July 14, 2020.
