The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Puthimari River in 2 No. The Shaulmari area under Hajo on Wednesday.
According to reports, the body was spotted on the riverbank, following which locals alerted the authorities. Police soon reached the spot and recovered the body for further investigation.
Preliminary information suggests that the deceased is a male, approximately 30 years old. He was found wearing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. A mobile phone was also recovered from the pocket of his trousers, which may help in establishing his identity.
Ramdia Police have launched an investigation into the incident. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, and the cause of death remains unknown.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination as part of standard procedure. Further details are awaited as police continue their inquiry.
