In the recently declared Higher Secondary (HS) Final Examination 2026 results announced by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), female students have once again outperformed their male counterparts in the Arts stream, continuing a consistent trend seen in recent years.

The overall pass percentage in the Arts stream stood at 79.54%, but a closer look at the data reveals a clear gender gap in performance. Female candidates recorded a significantly higher pass percentage of 81.96%, while the pass rate among male students stood at 76.10%.

A total of 2,41,124 students appeared in the Arts stream examination this year. Of these, 99,589 were male students and 1,41,534 were female candidates, indicating a higher enrolment of girls in the Arts stream as well.

Among the male candidates, 17,150 secured First Division, reflecting top-tier performance, while 33,112 passed in Second Division and 25,528 cleared the examination in Third Division. Altogether, 75,790 male students successfully passed the examination.

In comparison, female students registered a far more dominant performance across all categories. A total of 37,605 girls secured First Division, more than double the number of boys, while 46,069 passed in Second Division and 32,334 cleared the exam in Third Division.
