A young man was killed in a wild elephant attack in Assam's Tamulpur district near the Bhutan border, where the movement of elephants has increased again.
According to sources, the incident took place at East Chandranagar in the Kauli area of Nalbari district, Assam, during the night. The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Rijoy Dey.
According to reports, the youth, who was involved in the betel nut trade, came face to face with a lone wild elephant on the way. The elephant attacked him, killing him on the spot.
The elephant also damaged several houses in the area, creating panic among villagers.
After the incident, a distressing scene was witnessed in the village. Amid rain, affected families, including children, were left helpless near their damaged homes.
A team from the forest department and Kumarikata police reached the spot.
