Hemant Soren , the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, questioned the performance of the so-called "double-engine government" in Assam, raising concerns about the living conditions of tea garden workers.
Speaking at a public meeting in Golaghat, Soren asked whether basic facilities like proper housing, electricity, water, roads, and healthcare have truly reached the people.
He said that despite promises of providing pucca houses to all, many families are still waiting. He also questioned the real condition of labourers in tea estates, suggesting that ground realities do not match the claims made by the government.
His remarks came shortly after Narendra Modi visited a tea garden in Dibrugarh, where he interacted with workers and took part in tea plucking during his campaign tour in the poll-bound state.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Prime Minister during a rally in Jorhat. Gandhi alleged that former US President Donald Trump has influence over Modi, claiming that the Prime Minister does not respond to Trump's actions because of political pressure.
Taking his criticism further, Gandhi also targeted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that the Prime Minister holds control over him as well. He accused the state leadership of corruption, intensifying the political war of words in the state.
