Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Wednesday struck a confident note over the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) electoral prospects in the state, asserting that the ruling coalition is on course for a decisive mandate despite the mixed reliability of exit polls.
According to the report, Dilip Saikia said that while such surveys do not always capture the outcome accurately, the BJP and its allies remain upbeat about securing a commanding victory. He indicated that the alliance is aiming for a third consecutive term in Assam with what he described as a “historic mandate.”
The NDA’s anticipated performance reflects sustained public endorsement of its governance agenda, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development and the safeguarding of regional identity. He attributed the party’s confidence to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, whom he credited with driving policy direction and political momentum in the state.
“The people of Assam have consistently supported the BJP’s vision. We believe that support will translate into a strong and stable mandate once results are declared,” Saikia said, underlining the party’s optimism ahead of the official count.
Beyond Assam, the BJP leader also weighed in on the electoral climate in West Bengal, launching a sharp critique of the ruling establishment led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that voters in the state have grown disillusioned with what he termed as prolonged corruption and entrenched syndicate networks.
Saikia further claimed that despite concerns over alleged attempts to intimidate voters during the election period, turnout remained robust. He described the high participation as a reaffirmation of democratic resilience, suggesting that the electorate had exercised its franchise without succumbing to fear.
