The incident took place in the Pilingkata area, where two groups allegedly engaged in a fierce confrontation over a disputed plot of land. Armed with sharp weapons like machetes and axes, both sides attacked each other, turning the area into a battleground.
One person, identified as Utpal Konwar, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Guwahati. He is said to be in critical condition and fighting for his life.
According to reports, one group was led by Debajit Hazarika, while the other was led by Utpal Konwar. The clash escalated rapidly, and both Assam and Meghalaya Police had to intervene to bring the situation under control.
Following the incident, Basistha Police arrested four individuals, Topas Saikia, Debajit Hazarika, Indrajit Hazarika, and Sunil Pathak, in connection with the violence.
Further investigation is underway.
