Assam:Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary on Thursday visited flood-affected areas in Assam's Sivasagar district along with a 104-member relief team and distributed essential supplies to families impacted by the ongoing floods.
During the visit, Mohilary was accompanied by Assam MLA Arup Kumar Dey; Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi received the team and joined them as they travelled to several affected locations to oversee the relief distribution.
According to the initial report, the BTC team brought a large quantity of relief materials, including bedsheets, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, and other daily essentials. These items were distributed among families in areas where floodwaters have continued to disrupt normal life for several days.
Speaking on the occasion, Akhil Gogoi expressed gratitude to the BTC Chief and his team for visiting the district and extending direct support to the affected people. He said the residents of Sivsagar deeply appreciated the effort taken by the team to travel from Kokrajhar and personally hand over relief materials.
"We are grateful to Hagrama Mohilary and the entire team. They have brought bedsheets, mosquito nets, essential hygiene products and other relief items for the flood victims. As Sivasagar town remains completely submerged, this assistance will greatly benefit the affected people," Gogoi said.
He also praised the initiative of the BTC team for visiting the ground instead of only sending materials, calling it a meaningful gesture of support and unity during a challenging time.
The visit comes as flood conditions continue to affect several parts of Upper Assam, with many families relying on relief support for survival and basic needs.
