The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Drone Federation India (DFI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in drone technology, specialised training, innovation and counter-drone applications, marking a major step towards enhancing India's preparedness against emerging aerial security threats.
The agreement was signed at the CISF Headquarters in New Delhi by Dr CD Naik, DIG (Principal), MPRTC Behror, on behalf of the CISF, and Smit Shah, President of Drone Federation India, in the presence of the Director General of CISF and senior officials from both organisations.
Under the partnership, CISF and DFI will work together on knowledge sharing, capacity building and technological collaboration. The MoU is expected to strengthen the force's ability to understand, adopt and deploy emerging unmanned aerial technologies while also improving its preparedness to counter potential threats posed by unauthorised or hostile drones.
The collaboration will focus on expanding expertise in the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for security operations and developing greater awareness and capability in counter-drone technologies. With drones increasingly becoming part of modern security challenges, the partnership is expected to support the deployment of advanced technological solutions for the protection of critical installations.
Speaking on the partnership, Smit Shah, President, Drone Federation India, said, “This partnership will drive knowledge sharing, training, and technological collaboration, strengthening how UAVs are leveraged for security operations and how Counter-Drone Solutions can be deployed for strengthening security at critical installations. More such partnerships lie ahead as drone and counter-drone technology become central to India’s security architecture.”
The MoU is being viewed as an important institutional step towards integrating drone and counter-drone capabilities into India's wider security framework. It will provide a platform for the two organisations to collaborate on training and innovation while encouraging the adoption of technological solutions suited to evolving security requirements.
The partnership also aligns with the government's broader push to strengthen indigenous technological capabilities and build a robust domestic drone ecosystem under the “Nation First” vision.
