Promising Assamese poet Jonmani Das is no more. The young and popular literary voice passed away recently after being critically ill in Dibrugarh, leaving the Assamese literary community in deep shock and grief.

He had been undergoing treatment after her health deteriorated, but despite medical efforts, he breathed his last.

Born on May 31, 1985, in Sivasagar, Jonmani Das completed his education at Sivasagar Government Higher Secondary School and later studied at Bir Lachit Borphukan College. He gradually made his mark in Assamese literature with her strong and distinctive poetic voice.

Known for his bold and unique style of writing, Das had carved out a special place for himself in modern Assamese poetry.

Apart from poetry, he also contributed to children’s literature and authored several books in the genre. He was associated with the magazine Prantik, where she worked as part of the editorial team.
