Gujarat Titans experienced a tense post-match scare following their IPL 2026 final defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after a fire reportedly broke out in their team bus near the Narendra Modi Stadium due to a short circuit.

All players and support staff were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported, but the squad was left stranded for nearly an hour before alternative arrangements were made.

The incident added to a series of logistical challenges the franchise faced during the final phase of the tournament. Adverse weather conditions across north-western India had earlier disrupted their travel schedule, delaying their chartered flight to Ahmedabad by nearly three hours on Saturday and forcing the cancellation of a scheduled captain’s photoshoot featuring Shubman Gill and RCB skipper Rajat Patidar.

Gujarat Titans’ path to the final involved a demanding itinerary. After losing Qualifier 1 to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Dharamsala on May 26, the team travelled to multiple venues before defeating Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 at Mullanpur on May 29, booking their place in the title clash.

Reflecting on the season, captain Shubman Gill said the team had enjoyed a strong campaign overall but acknowledged that there were areas requiring improvement.
