The Basistha Police in Guwahati have arrested seven alleged robbers who were reportedly involved in a series of criminal activities across different parts of Assam.
According to police sources, the accused were picked up from multiple locations, including Hajo, Nalbari, Adabari and Nagaon. The group is believed to have created fear in several regions with their repeated involvement in theft and robbery cases.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdullah Ali, Zakir Ali, Ali, Chand Mohammad Ali, Mostafa Ahmed, Kafiluddin Ali and Badshah Ali.
Police said the group was actively involved in cattle theft and robbery. There are also indications that they may have been linked to ATM theft incidents, though further investigation is underway.
Officials revealed that the accused had been involved in several criminal acts in the past as well. In one such case, footage from CCTV cameras had captured them during a cattle theft operation, which helped police track their movement.
During the operation, police also seized a four-wheeler without a number plate, which was allegedly used in their activities. Along with the vehicle, ropes, tools used for theft, cash and four mobile phones were recovered.
All seven accused are currently being questioned by the Basistha Police as the investigation continues.
