Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group , addressed nearly 3,000 workers and employees at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport ( LGBIA ) on the occasion of International Labour Day , outlining the company's focus on worker welfare, local employment, and skill development.

Speaking to the workforce, Adani stressed that employees are at the heart of the group's growth and called them "nation builders." He said the company's progress would not just be measured by projects completed, but also by the number of livelihoods created and communities supported.

"You are not just employees, you are nation builders. When we complete a project, we are not just delivering work, we are shaping the future of the country," Mr Adani said.

A key part of the group's approach is to prioritise local hiring. According to Adani, job opportunities at project sites will first be offered to people from nearby areas, followed by candidates from within the state, and then from outside if needed.

He also highlighted several welfare initiatives aimed at improving workers' living conditions. These include plans to build housing facilities for around 50,000 workers in Gujarat's Mundra and Khavda regions, along with a large central kitchen that can serve up to 1 lakh nutritious meals every day.

Adani said providing dignity and proper living conditions to workers is essential, not optional. He emphasised that better facilities and support systems would lead to stronger productivity and long-term growth.

"These projects are not just assets. They are instruments of national progress," he said.

The group is also working on improving how projects are executed. With strong financial backing, it plans to speed up work and decision-making by simplifying its internal structure. A new system is being introduced to ensure faster decisions at project sites and better coordination among teams.

Talking about partnerships, Adani said the company aims to work closely with a smaller number of reliable contractors to improve efficiency. He added that the focus is on building long-term relationships rather than short-term contracts.

He also spoke about encouraging small entrepreneurs at the grassroots level, citing examples of individuals who have grown alongside the company's projects and created jobs in their communities.

Skill development is another major focus area. Through upcoming training centres, workers will be given opportunities to upgrade their skills and move into higher roles within the organisation.

Adani linked several of the group's major infrastructure projects to India's overall development, saying such initiatives are helping strengthen the country's logistics and energy sectors.
