Guwahati is set to emerge as a major hub for cutting-edge medical innovation as the 3rd annual conference of the Association of Robotic and Innovative Surgeons (ARIS 2026) will be held from April 16 to 19 at Mayfair Spring Valley in Sonapur.
The international conference is expected to bring together leading surgeons, innovators, and thought leaders from across the world to deliberate on the latest advancements in robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic surgery. fields that are rapidly transforming modern healthcare.
One of the key highlights of ARIS 2026 will be the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), marking significant international collaborations in robotic surgery and medical training.
Among the major partnerships lined up are agreements between ARIS and global organisations such as KAROS (Korean Association of Robotic Surgeons) and SELSMA (Society of Endolaparoscopic Surgeons of Malaysia). These collaborations aim to strengthen cross-border knowledge exchange and expand the reach of robotic surgical expertise.
Additionally, an MoU with Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), Indore, will facilitate fellowship programmes for ARIS members, enhancing structured academic training in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
Another significant agreement involves IRCAD India, a mirror institute of the globally renowned IRCAD, Strasbourg, further reinforcing India’s position in advanced surgical training and research.
In a major technological showcase, the conference will feature a rare live demonstration of tele-robotic surgery. The procedure will be performed remotely by Prof (Dr) Subhash Khanna, highlighting a breakthrough in remote-access surgical interventions.
This demonstration is expected to underline the future potential of tele-surgery, where geographical barriers in healthcare delivery can be significantly reduced.
ARIS 2026 aims to serve as a platform for structured training, innovation, and global collaboration in surgical sciences. The conference underscores a growing emphasis on integrating robotics into mainstream medical practice, ensuring precision, efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.
With participation from international faculty and medical experts, the event is being seen as a landmark moment for Assam’s healthcare landscape, positioning Guwahati on the global map of advanced surgical innovation.
The conference is being led by Prof (Dr) Subhash Khanna, Founder President of ARIS and Chairman of the organising committee. The event also involves a wide network of medical professionals and experts across various committees, reflecting the scale and significance of the summit.
