The firm, operating under the name 'Future Guide Placement', had set up an office in the Six Mile area and targeted job seekers with promises of employment across various sectors.

According to allegations, the organisation lured candidates through online advertisements and collected amounts ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 from each applicant under the pretext of providing jobs.

However, after taking the money, the firm allegedly failed to provide any employment. Victims also claimed that when they demanded refunds, they were threatened and even physically assaulted by staff members of the organisation.

The scam is believed to have affected several unemployed youths from both Assam and Meghalaya, many of whom fell prey to the fake promises.

Following the incident, a group of victims has filed an FIR at Dispur Police Station, seeking action against the fraudulent firm.

Police are expected to launch an investigation into the matter.
